Client was running on a single EC2 — app and database on the same box, no backups, no redundancy. First migration moved them to EKS with Fargate and a managed RDS instance, replacing a standalone MySQL setup.
A year later, pragmatically moved from EKS down to ECS — same reliability, lower cost. Built custom Docker images for their PHP Laravel app, introduced proper CI/CD, and managed an overseas dev team through both transitions.

Embedded with an AI startup's engineering team across both product and infrastructure. Migrated their stack to EKS and established a proper CI/CD pipeline — giving the team reliable, repeatable deployments for the first time.
On the product side: implemented LangChain for context-aware help chat with embedded document retrieval, and helped lay the groundwork for in-house model training.
Built a pipeline to transcribe video interviews and fine-tune a GPT model to speak in the voice of a subject-matter expert. The model had access to embedded context from a PostgreSQL vector store.
Led the engineering team and managed the project end-to-end.
Led the shift from Elastic Beanstalk to Kubernetes, migrated Angular, Node.js, and NestJS apps into an NX monorepo, and automated deployments across all applications via CircleCI and GitHub.
Also supervised a 4-student capstone project building a data warehouse on AWS Redshift, and built a scraper that collected data on 2.5M+ charity events.

Over the last 5 years I've focused heavily on AI — working with large language models, diffusion models, dataset collection, and production model deployments. I combine that with deep cloud infrastructure experience across AWS and GCP.
